Uniline energy systems: The hallmark of quality excellence

Mr.Bansal, Director- Uniline Energy Systems
Q. Uniline Energy systems is being one of the leading name in power electronic sector & has a significant market share for power conditioning products, how did Uniline managed this bounteous growth ?
We have been able to achieve this growth mainly by adopting latest technology in time and manufacturing products taking into consideration Indian power condition and providing timely after sales support.

Q. What is the overall outlook for Uniline energy & brief us about Uniline’s global & domestic presence ?
Now we have all India service network and we have also the solution for all the power problems. We will add Solar Power solution and Active Power Factor system in our range of products. Currently, we are operating in Indian market. But we have plans to expand our network initially in Asian market and later on globally.
Q. How about Uniline energy’s initiatives in power electronic space? Which are your focus areas ?
Till now, our focus was mainly in providing Uninterruptible power solution and we are among very few Indian companies who have all kind of UPS systems like Line Interactive / On Line UPS System, Parallel Redundant or Modular UPS system, etc. We were early adaptor of IGBT based On Line UPS system and recently we have supplied Touch Screen operated On Line UPS system (6 Pulse & 12 Pulse). We also supplied IGBT rectifier based UPS system with Input Power Factor 0.99, Efficiency > 98%, can run on Eco Mode, etc.
Q. What are the market opportunities for Uniline energy products in India? How do you plan to position these products ?
Earlier we have been focusing on IT industry only, but now we have started selling UPS systems to other segments also like Textile, Health sector, EMC based industry application, etc. We hope to achieve the turn over with these products.
Q. What is your marketing strategy for Indian market?
Our marketing strategy is that we have been always focus on providing the UPS system with latest technology suitable for Indian power condition and at the same time providing the same at affordable prices. We hope to achieve the turn over by expanding our dealer / distribution network and liasioning with large companies and also by increasing the budget for advertisement.
Q. Can you please elucidate the contribution of R&D in the success of Uniline energy products?

Q. Brief us about the quality policy for the business?
Our Quality Policy is to ENSURE HIGH LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION BY OFFERING HIGH QUALITY PRODUCTS AND SERVICES THROUGH INNOVATION WITH EFFICIENT IMPLEMENTATION OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS REQUIREMENTS AND CONTINUALLY IMPROVE ITS EFFECTIVENESS THROUGHOUT THE ORGANISATION.
Q. Can you brief us more about Uniline energy system’s top line product range?
Our top line product range is High Power UPS Systems called ‘D’-Series where the single UPS systems is available upto 300 KVA with a provision of paralleling upto 7 units with latest features like Input P.F. 0.99, Efficiency > 98%, can run on Eco Mode, etc.
Q. What do you think are the strengths of Indian power conditioning equipment industry & How it is positioning itself against the global market?
We think that the strength of Indian power conditioning equipment is they are practically able to supply almost each and every kind of UPS system manufactured in India with comparable to the supply made by MNCs. Sometimes the UPS systems supplied by Indian manufacturer are better because the system designed at taking care the Ambient temp. @ 50 Deg. C while the imported systems are designed at max. 40 Deg. C. Imported systems are with backup of only 10-15 minutes while the Indian UPS systems can cater upto 4-8 hours backup time. That is why some of the Indian UPS system companies distributing their product globally.
Q. Please highlight Global perspective of power electronic industry and what is the differentiating factor?
Indian UPS industry finding its difficult to fight with imported system as far as pricing is concerned because of the high input raw material cost. In Indian, there is not even a single company who is manufacturing the semi conductors, IGBT, etc. We have to depend on imported raw material starting from IGBTs, Semi conductors, SMT components, etc.
Q. What are the key technological trends that are driving power electronic industry?
Earlier UPS systems are based on transistors, later on transfer to MOSFET and now-a-days UPS systems are manufactured with IGBT based technology. They are six generations of IGBTs. The devices are easy to use, efficient without any loss.
Q. According to you what is the forecast for the Indian power industry?
Indian Power Industry will continue to grow with a healthy speed within next five years and can also expand their business globally.
Q. According you what are the factors affecting to your business?
The main factor is that Govt. has allowed to import UPS system on nil duty while we have to pay the levies like custom duty, excise duty, etc. to import the raw material for manufacturing of UPS system. This has created un-healthy competition which is affecting Indian Power Industry.
Q. What are the issues you need to address that are related to power conditioning industry ?
- Custom duty on imported raw material should be reduced / waived.
- Levy duty on imported UPS system for healthy competition.
- Govt. must increase the Excise Exemption limit and if possible Govt. must give the Income Tax relaxation upto 10% for SSI units.
