Q. Kusam Meco had introduced the digital mulitimeters & clamp meters in the industry in the age of analog meters; please brief us more about this breakthrough?
Prior to the 80’s, the instrument market consisted of analog instruments which were mainly imported from Germany, UK, Japan. At that time, due to strict import Licensing policies of the Government and due the high import duties, the cost of Digital Multimeters, Clampmeters and other Digital measuring instruments was very high. This discouraged the users from using Digital instruments although they would have liked to use Digital Instruments. Our company sensed the market pulse & had the vision that the users will gradually change over to more accurate instruments and we visualised the market for Digital multimeters and clampmeters. This led to the channelising of our energies in that direction and to be the ahead of the competition, we had to innovate. This culminated into the introduction of Digital Multimeters and Clampmeters in the 80’s. Although there was hesitation from customers due to cost factor but realising the benefits, customers changed over to Digital instruments.
Q. Please elucidate Kusam Meco’s manufacturing & testing infrastructure?
Our Company has the testing equipments for testing all the instruments which are marketed by us. We are equipped with high quality calibrators of reputed companies. We also have other supporting test instruments. All these standard instruments are calibrated at NABL accredited laboratories periodically. We thus maintain high standards of quality.
Q. Is there any new alliances that have been made by Kusam Meco to make its position strong in the industry? (Tie-ups/ mergers/acquisitions)
We have tie-ups with many leading companies of Far East in the field of Test & Measuring instruments and we are expanding our range of products as per market requirements so that we can have a strong presence.
Q.Continuing the trend of innovation which are the new products that has been introduced by Kusam Meco?
The new products introduced by us recently are High-safety Digital multimeters suitable for VFD measurements, Data-logging multimeters,3-Phase Power Clampmeters and Dual display Clampmeters, Process Clampmeters, Process Calibrators, High Voltage Detection equipments upto 500KV etc.
Q. Please brief us more about the quality consciousness behind the existing Kusam Meco products that are available in the industry?
Our company is an ISO 9001:2008 certified company. We have the ISO for Marketing and Servicing of our instruments. Each of the instrument which leaves our premises is tested for the function and accuracy tests so that there is no complaint from the customer. Periodically the instruments are also sent to independent laboratories for checking accuracy so that the test results at our company are revalidated by them.
Q. According to you, how does research & development plays a role for success of products, share your experience?
Research and Development plays an important role in the success of the product. If proper Research and Development is done, the failures in the instruments, when it is used by the customers, will be minimum. It will also make the instrument more usable for the application for which it is designed. Research and Development should be done keeping in view the growing needs of the industry. It can also lead to saving in costs by using new technologies available for the manufacture of the products / components / Process.
Q. What are the marketing strategies that has been implemented by you to create Kusam Meco as recognized brand in the industry?
We are promoting our products through newspapers advertisements, industrial magazine advertisement and by seminars at customers premises. We also participate in the leading exhibitions and display our product range. And the products are distributed through a network of dealers all over the country.
Q. What are the new technologies that are available today in the field of multimeters & testing instruments?
New Multimeters and other testing instruments are microprocessor based. They have High Safety features. Also there is a good future for instruments with data transmission by wireless means.
The trend is also to provide PC connectivity for logging and recording the data.
Q. According to you what will be the future of power quality testing equipments?
The future of Power quality testing equipments is very bright because of the shortage of electricity and no strict laws to penalise the electric supply companies, if the quality of power is very poor. Although the supply companies charge the consumers for stable and reliable power, except in the metro cities, it is never stable nor reliable. There is heavy fluctuations in the power, lot of harmonics & irregular power supply leading to damage of costly Electronic Instruments and home appliances. To monitor the power quality there will be huge demand for Power quality instruments.
Q. What is your vision for Kusam Meco for coming years?
