Modules with potential

Modular Design Increases the Efficiency in Control Cabinet Building, In machine and plant construction, installation, commissioning and service are significantly simplified if functions are combined on module panels and standardized. Contactron 4 in 1 – the semiconductor reversing contactor designed for flexible use – is ideally suited for this purpose.

Solid state contactors switch better
Especially at high currents and for inductive loads, the lifetime of mechanical switchgear decreases with each switching operation. On the other hand, solid state contactors switch quickly, precisely and completely wear-free. This fact alone increases the plant availability. The protective circuit integrated as standard in Contactron solid state contactors prevents the contact-breaking sparking and interference voltages that can occur with mechanical contactors. This means that adjacent electronic devices in the control cabinet are not subject to any additional EMC interference. Another advantage is the low switch-on current. This means that it can be directly controlled from a PLC output card.

Less mounting space
The module specialists like to use the Contactron 4 in 1 reversing contactor for machines where three-phase loads with a connected power of up to 4 kW have to be simply wired with low associated circuit costs and reversed. What most of the companies likes is that a wealth of functions is packed into a small mounting space. The Contactron 4 in 1 combines counter-clockwise motor rotation, clockwise motor rotation, motor protection relays and also an integrated safety function in an enclosure that is just the width of a thumb (22.5 mm). Even more space is saved if safe shutdown that requires an additional contactor is specified as is frequently the case in machine construction. “This is already included in the Contactron 4 in 1 as standard,”  Thanks to allowing for flexibly setting the current values for the over current release, the Contactron 4 in 1 reversing contactor is used in a very wide range of motor circuit breaker versions in many of the applications. The version up to 0.75 kW  to 4-kW version serves almost 70% of the Industry application. This allows the customer  to reduce the stock of spare parts,” and Not only this, but if motor power ratings change after the control cabinet has been built, components do not have to be replaced since Contactron 4 in 1 can be simply re-parameterized.”

Long life and safety included
Especially when high switching cycles are involved, the new hybrid technology of the Contactron 4 in 1 reversing contactor offers some significant advantages over mechanical contactors. “This technology increases the lifetime by a factor of 10, therefore saving our customers a lot of maintenance costs,”. The safety functions of the Contactron also play a big role for most or the companies The company greatly profits from the fact that three-phase loads can be safely shut down in compliance with DIN EN ISO 13849-1 when controlled via a safe output without requiring any additional components. This is realized using a microprocessor control that helps to minimize wiring costs. While up to 70 terminal points must be connected for a classic installation, for a reversing contactor circuit with Contactron, this is reduced to a maximum of 18.

Strong teamwork for a longer life
The switching concept used for the “4 in 1” reversing contactors is based on a microprocessor-controlled hybrid combination comprising rugged relay technology and wear-free solid state technology. It combines the strengths of both switching technologies and in so doing minimizes the power loss. While state-of-the-art semiconductors handle the switching-on and switching-off operations without any wear, the relay contacts conduct the continuous current with low associated power loss. The load on the switching contacts is significantly reduced so that their lifetime is increased by at least tenfold. Furthermore, with this circuit concept, space-consuming cooling elements are superfluous. In addition to the “4 in 1” solid state reversing contactors, the Contactron product family includes three-phase reversing contactors to switch and reverse motors up to 18.5 kW as well as solid state contactors to switch loads in 1 and 3-phase line supplies

CONTACTRON can easily create success for all the switching needs of your precious applications…..
