A holistic risk management plan to mitigate project risks and achieve business success

Marcus Evans presents the EPC Risk Manegement to be held on the 3rd and 4th June 2010 in Singapore. Today’s large project developments are typically characterised by large investments, tight schedules and the introduction of new technology under unproven conditions. These challenges usually result in higher risk exposure. Global competition is driving owners and contractors to increasingly assume more risk as they seek to multiply or retain their profit margins. Unfortunately, many owners and EPC pay insufficient attention to the risk management process. In the past, risk management has been an important tool to control safety-related risks. However, we see the shift away from the traditional compliance and insurance-motivated risk management to one that is closely linked to business performance and long-term society commitment.  The EPC method of project delivery can have substantial benefits for all involved, but it also involves tremendous risk and complexity. With higher risk exposures, owners and contractors are seeking alternative ways to mitigate and control risks especially with the global economic situation that is slowly picking up. This conference will allow owners, EPC contractors and the various parties involved the ability to understand key external and internal project risks that often delay their EPC projects and fail to meet deadlines while staying within budget. It will also identify and evaluate various contracts styles that are being used to react to the current market trend and identify what type of contract suits that particular EPC project. Furthermore, it will address areas on how the relevant parties can protect themselves from greater liability while strengthening the working relationships between owners, contractors and suppliers to minimise disputes, reduce risk, costs and retaining quality.
