Danfoss announces the launch of its energy efficient low harmonic drives in India
Danfoss Industries Private Limited, a leader in mechanical and electronic components and solutions, today announced the launch of the first mass produced VLT® Low Harmonic Drive in India. The latest addition to Danfoss’ prominent VLT® series of Drives, the VLT® Low Harmonic Drive minimises the harmonic disturbances on the supply grid by actively imposing currents into the grid so that the high quality sine wave of the grid current is restored. Today, only 8% of all electric motors globally are frequency controlled and these drives can typically save half the energy in pump and fan applications
“Danfoss stands to be solution ready for climate change and the launch of the new Low Harmonic Drives here in India prove testimony to that fact.. In keeping with the current scenario we expect that the huge potential for energy savings will increase the need for drives – and in turn, increase the need for harmonic mitigation on the supply grid” said P. Ravichandran, Regional Vice President Asia Pacific, Danfoss Industries Pvt. Ltd.
Like other VLT® drives, the Low Harmonic Drive is built on a highly modular technology platform where the base elements have proven their functionality, quality and overall reliability in other parts of the broad VLT® drives program. Product efficiency of 97% secures the Low Harmonic Drive pole position for Active harmonic filtration. The VLT® Low Harmonic Drive also ensures 99% energy utilization in the full load range

Mr. Geilager Gregers, Mr. Narsimhan Rengarajan & Mr. Ingo Haertel along with the New Low Harmonic Drive
The product expo which was held in Mumbai showcased other products from the VLT® family such as flexible and reliable Standard VLT® Active Filters, the energy efficient VLT® Drives Electronic motor control and VLT® Low Harmonic Drives. The introduction of the Low Harmonic version expands the range of harmonic mitigation solutions to meet increasing demands for ‘clean’ power supply networks, including advanced passive filters and software tools for simulation, product selection, set-up and analysis. Danfoss Drives offers technical sales and service support facilities in over 100 countries worldwide
