13th annual RSTechED conference hosted by Rockwell Automation
With more than 120 unique technical sessions, hands-on labs and customer presentations, this year’s RSTechED conference hosted by Rockwell Automation provided attendees with a detailed look at how manufacturing intelligence is helping companies reduce costs and achieve plantwide optimization. More than 1,150 attendees gathered for the weeklong partner and user event held June 6 to 11 at the JW Marriott Hotel, Los Angeles. The annual event attracts a diverse group of attendees, including end users, system integrators, OEMs, distributors, industry analysts and media.
“Manufacturers are continuously challenged to increase production yields, drive down costs, improve quality and reduce raw material use, especially in today’s economic climate,” said Steve Eisenbrown, Rockwell Automation senior vice president, Architecture and Software. “Manufacturing intelligence leverages powerful reporting and analysis tools, interfaces and dashboards to aggregate critical, real-time metrics and turn them into readily accessible information visible across the enterprise. This empowers individuals at all levels to make informed decisions that lead to increased operational efficiency, improved business agility, and more sustainable productivity.”
Themed “Game Plan for Success,” this year’s event kicked off with a keynote address from legendary football great and 20-year ESPN broadcaster, Joe Theismann. Theismann shared stories from his time in the NFL and drew parallels between winning in football and in business. Steve Eisenbrown and Frank Kulaszewicz, vice president and general manager of the Control and Visualization Business at Rockwell Automation, spoke at the event on Tuesday. They offered a far-reaching look at where technology is taking manufacturing in the future and provided an overview of the tools available today to build a foundation for success.
In addition, Rockwell Automation released a new white paper that outlines the requirements and potential efficiency gains that commercial and industrial energy users can achieve by using an integrated, algorithmic approach to energy management. The paper, “An Algorithmic Approach to Enterprise Energy Management,” uses examples from several enterprise energy-management system implementations to validate this holistic methodology, which leverages real-time and historical data to predict performance trends and evaluate response options.
