- East-West Kolkata Metro corridor project is 14.5-km corridor starting from Salt Lake Sector V up to Howrah Maidan. Of this, around 8 km will be underground with six stations and the balance will be on an elevated track. About 6 km of elevated roads work is awarded to Gammon India and so far they have completed 30% of the work.
Recently the contract for constructing 5 km underground pathway is awarded to Afcons. This work will start by December 2010. The project completion will take 4 years.
