Havells enters new generation CMH lighting biz

Havells India Limited, a US $1.2 billion enterprise and a leading player in the Lighting & Fixtures segment, electrical and power equipment sector in India, is entering into Ceramic Metal Halide (CMH), a new generation lighting which shows the true colour of life. The CMH Plant will be manufacturing 1mn units annually and will be the First in the world to manufacture New generation CMH Lamps. The company plans to export 90% of production.New Generation CMH lamps are considered as the highest efficiency light sources in the industry and are rated best in the CRI Class with improved lumen maintenance which gives more then 80% even after 6000 burning hours. CMH has long life of upto 12,000 hours with superb colour consistency and stability. These lightings are designed for Indoor & Out Door lighting application.

                Mr. Anil Gupta, Joint Managing Director said, “New Generation CMH Lamps are the future of lighting in commercial & outdoor application segment and we being sole manufacturers of New Generation CMH Lamps in the global market will push this segment & grow all over the world” He further added “The Company is going to setup its second Corporate office in Mumbai with an eye to increase its position & market share in the western India”. In the year 2008 – 2009 company has consolidated its CFL, Motor and Switchgear division globally by making India as the hub. Havells has announced the setting up of India’s largest integrated motor manufacturing capacities at its plant at Neemrana in Rajasthan and also consolidated its global CFL manufacturing capacities making the Neemrana plant the hub for all CFL & New Generation CMH Lamp manufacturing. The factory located at RIICO, Neemrana is spread over 42 acres with the motor manufacturing plant of the company having installed capacity to produce around 20000 units per month making it the largest integrated motor manufacturing unit in the country. Havells India Limited has invested close to Rs.150 crores to install this capacity at the Neemrana plant. Post consolidation, the Neemrana plant is producing 4 million units of CFL per month.

The company intends to export close to 50% of the production of the plant to EU countries.
Havells India Limited acquired international lighting products maker Sylvania in the year 2007. This acquisition helped the company create better visibility and achieve new milestones in the promising CFL segment. The company is currently in the process of restructuring the global operations to generate efficiencies. It has consolidated entire compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) manufacturing units into a single plant based at Neemrana. The company is committed to developing energy savings devices which at present include CFL’s, Lighting, Fans, Motors, Capacitors, Cables and Digital Lighting Control Systems. Havells intends to have 80% of its turnover from the energy savings products by 2012
