Dürr builds paint shop for new Mercedes-Benz plant in Hungary

As the general contractor, Dürr is building the paint shop for the new Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét, Hungary. The contract awarded by Daimler is high in the tens of millions of Euros. Dürr will install its EcoDryScrubber overspray separation system, which has already proven itself in the supplier industry, in Kecskemét. Daimler is already the fourth automotive manufacturer who has opted for this innovative technology.

                Moreover, Dürr is supplying 30 painting robots, including paint supply systems, for the first time in Hungary. 30 type EcoRP E033 painting robots will be used for exterior painting, while the EcoRP L133 model and EcoBell 2 atomizers with high speed rotation are to be used for interior painting. Additional handling robots are responsible for opening hoods and doors. Besides seam sealing and cavity protection, Dürr’s scope of supply also includes liquid applied sound deadeners.
According to Ralf Dieter, CEO of Dürr AG, “The contract is another indication that investments in the automotive industry are again on the rise. We expect the placement of major orders from various manufacturers during the current year, primarily in China, Brazil and India.”

The new paint shop for Mercedes-Benz compact cars will begin operation in 2012.
