Victaulic demonstrated latest pipe joining solutions at Power-Gen India & Central Asia
Victaulic, the world leader in mechanical pipe joining systems showcased its latest technology at POWER-GEN India & Central Asia this year. Victaulic products are ideally suited to the power industry – for applications including chemical feed lines, utility air and cooling water - and offer many unique safety features and compressed schedule advantages.
Among the innovative highlights on show at the Victaulic stand was the:
• Advanced Grooved System (AGS) featuring a patented two-piece housing and a wedge-shaped groove that delivers pressure ratings up to 350 psi/2400 kPa depending on size and wall thickness. AGS offers unprecedented assembly speed and reliability to join large diameter pipes from 24”-60”/350-1525 mm.
• 152A Expansion joint coupling (10-30” / 250-760mm) suitable for pulverized coal and limestone with 4 degrees of deflection capability, along with expansion and contraction. This coupling is designed to be used in industrial applications such as new or retrofit coal-fired electric generation facilities and requires no tie bars or pipe windows, minimizing erosion, abrasion, inadequate fuel flow and potential fire risk. The ease and speed of maintenance of the Style 152A leads to less downtime and increased productivity during costly scheduled plant outages.
• Vic 300 MasterSeal Butterfly Valve with its strikingly innovative design of a unique offset disc and two-piece stem. The disc design increases flow and reduces operating torque up to 35%, and provides a 360º bubble-tight seal at fully rated pressure, 300 PSI, in either direction,. The valve has a longer life expectancy than most conventional valves and is available in sizes from 2” – 12” (60,3 – 323,9mm) and is rated to 300 PSI Water, Oil, Gas (WOG).
• Victaulic Style 220 / Style 221 nozzle couplings which provide a mechanical joint for joining spray nozzles in either alloy or FRP respectively, for use on scrubbers. Their lightweight, single-bolt assembly makes installation easier and faster than traditional flanged connections, eliminates over-tightening and “cracking” of nozzles, and permits full 360° nozzle orientation. The couplings are also easier to replace and maintain, thereby reducing downtime due to plugging or cleaning of nozzles.
Also on display was the revolutionary Victaulic installation ready range of flexible and rigid couplings that were up to 10 times faster to install than other joining methods. Standard grooved couplings install 5 times faster than welded joints and 3 times faster than flanged. The latest Victaulic installation-ready couplings install in less than half that time. Installation ready technology is available in sizes from 2-8”/50-200 mm. Examples of installation ready couplings at POWER-GEN will include the new Style 177 QuickVic flexible coupling and the Style 107H QuickVic rigid coupling.
Victaulic also demonstratied the latest member of its fire protection family. Based on feedback from contractors, the revolutionary FireLockEZ® Style 009H Rigid Coupling is designed as a lightweight, installation-ready coupling. It is a fast, simple solution that is safe to install, even with hand tools and offers the fastest installation times currently on the market. And because seeing really is believing, Victaulic offers hands-on assembly experience to show just how simple it is to put together its couplings, alongside grooving demonstrations.
